Bio
SD Youngwolf is an artist, storyteller, teacher, and writer. He grew up in and around the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, and is an enrolled citizen of the Tsalagiyi Nvdagi tribal nation. His heritage, travels, and environment inspire his artistic explorations. SD has travelled the world and spent time with various tribal groups on several continents. He believes that the basic values cherished by Native people represent the greatest hope for humanity and the world. He has found the time he has spent with Indigenous people worldwide to be spiritually enlightening, and enjoys sharing these adventures through art, photography and storytelling. He has shown his paintings, masks, and gourd art internationally, and received many awards, especially at Native American art shows, across the United States. He has worked as an artist in Education in schools and museums in several states, encouraging creativity through cultural heritage in various media. His story book, “The Echo People” won the New Voices award from Lee and Low Publishers, NYC. Presently he enjoys creating art, storytelling, writing, and pondering the mysteries of life and enlightenment in his travels and adventures around the world.
